Day 39 (lock down)

Friday 1st May - bike **** - Two River – Orwell to the Deben – Sunshine and showers.

After four days with no bike riding as Suffolk gets it’s first rain for a month, breezy too so a little frustrating for a windsurfer off the water during lock down but needs must if we stand any chance of beating this terrible virus!!! It didn’t look overly promising today with sun followed by rain so I did my back exercises + the 45th day I have done them! Had lunch and then the sun came out with some amazing clouds too, so even if a little late I headed off on the bike at 3.10, in fact too late for Mag and she went for a walk instead. Again, my aim was to cycle roads for the first time to colour Google Earth red and zig zagged along all the road on the seafront towards Manning’s amusements, good fun especially with huge cumulous clouds above:) I was happily snapping beach huts and the Manor Martello Tower as I reached Landguard. Loads of rabbits but not many birds. Then back to the prom as the sun disappears and some dark menacing clouds appear! I take a chance and continue to Felixstowe Ferry and have to shelter from the rain, thunder too! As the rain eases, I have a spin around the boat yard and back across the golf course as the rain returns and the breeze picks up, not great for cycling! I have to shelter under a tree just past The Dip as it rains comes down hard catching several people out walking and jogging! Then home to dry off and have one of Mags freshly made shortbread with a cuppa. Tomorrow is forecast wall to wall sunshine with a light breeze so hopefully we will take a sandwich and visit ‘Emily’ at Falkenham Church on the bikes:)
